The upcoming WordPress version is 4.4 with some important features.
WordPress 4.4 scheduled to release on 8th December 2015.
There are few more scheduled for beta releases:
– On 22nd October 2015, WordPress 4.4 Beta 1 will be released.
– On 28nd October 2015, WordPress 4.4 Beta 2 will available for download and testing..
– On 4th of November 2015, WordPress 4.4 Beta 3 will available for download and testing..
Upcoming features of WordPress 4.4
1. Responsive images:
Exciting updates support for responsive images to serve appropriate image sizes by default to all users.
WordPress will now load an appropriate image based on user’s device and screen size. This is done by using “srcset” attribute. This attribute allows client’s browsers to display an image based on device capabilities.
Low-resolution images look unimpressive on devices with larger screens. This compels site owners to use better quality images which increase the page size and effects download speeds.
The srcset attribute is added on the fly and is not stored in the database.
All post images, featured images, attachment pages, and image galleries will be responsive. This will greatly improve page speeds and user experience on WordPress sites.
2. WordPress Embeds:
WordPress 4.4 allowing users to easily embed content from other websites as like YouTube and Twitter by just pasting its URL in a single line.
WordPress 4.4 will support nearly all sites that support the oEmbed standard. Now you can start the embedding rich media easily!
Any oEmbeds consumer can embed posts from WordPress blogs. This means that WordPress has also become an oEmbed provider.
3. Developer Features: a. REST API:
A JSON-based REST API for WordPress is now part of WordPress 4.4 core.
The API has two parts – infrastructure and endpoints and only the infrastructure part is available as part of WordPress 4.4 core. The endpoints are still made available only with a plugin.
b. Taxonomy Term Meta Data:
WordPress 4.4 has now included metadata for Taxonomy terms. Terms in taxonomies (like categories and tags or any custom taxonomy) can now have meta data associated with them.
Those who use a plugin to implement term metadata should prepare to move following this post here.
c. Document Title Output:
WordPress 4.4 has replaced the wp_title() with title-tag ( add_theme_support( ‘title-tag’ )) without breaking backwards compatibility with WordPress 4.0 and older, theme authors can check if the callback function exists and add a shiv in case it does not. Check link for detail.
d. Improved Comments performance:
Comments’ performance will be improved by only querying required number of comments and splitting the queries () in upcoming WordPress version 4.4.
Comment form fields output will be changed. The comment textarea will move to the top for logged-out users when replying and improve keyboard/focus navigation, but also aims to make it easier for end users to leave comments on WordPress sites.
e. Multisite Momentum:
Like taxonomy and comments, the multisite features gains a new class, WP_Network. Additionally, there are now *_network_option functions which make it easier to use multiple networks.
4. Twenty Sixteen:
WordPress 4.4 comes with a new default theme for Twenty Sixteen (2016).
Traditional blog layout, one sidebar and content area.
Five color schemes Default, Dark, gray, red and yellow.
It supports custom header and two menu locations.

Ganpati celebrations started from Pune. Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak initiated this festival in the city. More than a century we have celebrated this festival.
The idea behind this to bring society together.
This year Ganesha Chaturthi celebrations were from September 17 to September 26.
We checked out famous mandals in the city, these are here below;
1. The Kasba Ganpati:
This is most revered (Manache) Ganpati. Kasba Ganpati has the honor of leading the immersion procession in Pune.
The Legend behind it is when Queen Jijabai arrived in Pune in 1636 along with her a son Shivaji, an idol of Lord Ganesha was found near their home.
Shivaji is said to have visited the temple on several important occasions.
The temple was commissioned by Jijabai.
Over two centuries later, in 1893, when Lokmanya Tilak supported the public celebrations of Ganesha Chaturthi, the Kasba Ganapati temple was among the first to lead the initiative.
This is right bang in front of Shaniwarwada ( a heart of Pune). This Ganpati is also known as “Gram Daivat” (Village deity) of Pune.
The decor was simple and we spotted a speaker, which is only used during aarti, unlike the other mandals that blast music throughout the day.
Location: 159, Kasba Peth
2. Tambdi Jogeshwari:
Tambdi Jogeshwari is the name of Goddess Durga who is the native deity of the area, hence naming the mandal after it.
It is second most revered Ganpati after Kasba Ganpati.
it is said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had faith in the temple. It is believed that looking at the popularity of Jogeshwari, Lokmanya Tilak decided to install an idol of Lord Ganesh here and gave it the position of the second.
The highlight here is the a two-and-a-half-feet Ganpati placed in a silver palki.
it has been celebrating the Ganesh Festival in a very traditional and cultural way.
The Ganesh idol is made eco-friendly.
The mandal organises bhajans during the festival and this year will donate essential items to an orphanage on Tilak Road.
The Pandal is near Ganpati Chowk on Laxmi Road.
Location: Jogeshwari Lane, Budhwar Peth
3. Shri Guruji Talim Ganapati:
It is third most revered Ganpati.
This was started in the year 1887. This established a unity between the Hindus and the Muslims. This was incidentally the first among the mandals which celebrated a 100 years of existence.
Keeping with the tradition of beautiful decorations, the Mandal has put up a serene set up showing Lord Vitthala and Goddess Rukmini at the back of the Ganesh idol. The Balgajanan i.e. child Ganesh has been shown sitting on His mount the mouse.
The serpent surrounding the belly of Lord Ganesh, the gold ornaments.
Traditionally, the idol would be installed at the gymnasium itself but was later moved to Ganpati Chowk.
On its 100th anniversary celebrations in 1987 the practice of collecting money from locals to organize the festival was stopped.
Since then, it is the members of the committee who contribute money to raise enough funds for organizing the festival.
4.Shri Tulshibaug Ganapati:
Next up is the Shri Guruji Talim Ganapati, it is forth most revered Ganpati. This one is the largest about 15 feet idol made of fibreglass in 1986 sits at the temple and is displayed during the Ganeshotsav as well.
During the festivities is a mandal with decorations including chandeliers that are displayed for 10 days. The idols ornaments weight over 80 kg.
A pandal is located at Pune’s Famous ladies market Tulsibag.
Location: Tulsibaug, Arnyeshwar Sant Nagar
Kesariwada is the last one on the Honoured. which was also the residence of Tilak. Like other mandals,
this one is also simple with a mandal to make sure that devotees can pray in peace and meet each other without distractions. The mandal as a tradition does not display decoration
Location: Kesari Wada, Shaniwar Peth
Custom Sidebars allows you to create all the widgetized areas you need, your own custom sidebars, configure them adding widgets, and replace the default sidebars on the posts or pages you want in just few clicks. You can also set new default sidebars for a group of posts or pages easily, keeping the chance of changing them individually.
A wonderful plugin to easily create many sidebars. These sidebars can then select in the creation of a post / page / custom post type / category / taxonomy. We give an order, and select several at once. You will see all active sidebars instead of seeing just one.
Easily add jQuery UI widgets to any post, page, or sidebar! All standard pre-defined jQuery themes are supported, or you can upload your own custom theme built with the jQuery ThemeRoller. See the FAQ page for detailed instructions on uploading your own custom theme.
No need to mess about with cryptic shortcodes! Just enter clean, valid, HTML markup and the Plugin does the rest, adding all the necessary jQuery scripts and styles for you.
This plugin started out as a snippet when i needed a way to shorten my posts and make them look more presentable. WP UI plugin for WordPress, right from its first release, is all about user experience and presentation. It takes care of all the not-needed background stuff and makes it ultimately easy to implement wp ui widgets – Tabs, accordions, spoilers, dialogs. Real power of this plugin lies in the handy functions and shortcodes that deal with posts and feeds.
Google Custom Search Engine is not limited to just your site. You can configure it through google to search multiple sites/domains. This is even more apparent when your site is quite large and you have many posts and/or pages. In addition, WordPress search functionality display results ordered by date and not by its relevance to the keywords.
This plugin adds a widget that will display a hierarchical tree of all pages and subpages on your site. Drag it to be displayed in any widget area.
Each item in the tree is the title of a page or subpage on your site, which is a hyperlink that will navigate the browser to that page. A deep hierarchy of a large number of pages and subpages is thus reduced to a neatly organized and easily accessible menu. Pages at the same hierarchical level are displayed in alphabetical order.
Page Tree gives you a much-needed overview of your pages in the admininstration panel using a common expand/collapse menu, which lets you navigate your page structure like a folder tree in Windows Explorer.
bbbNow you can quickly and easily find the page you want to edit using the expandable tree view, and also get an admin view site map of your complete site. The page tree is displayed in the WordPress administration panel, under your regular “Pages” menu. See the screen shot for a better understanding of how it works.
If you want, you can use the sidebar widget to show the page tree on your site. Or you can use the pagetree shortcode to display the tree anywhere you want in your site. Finally, you can also use the pagetree_public() function to display the tree in using your templates.
This WordPress plugin adds all your pages to the admin menu, so all your pages will always be available within just one click, no matter where you are in the admin area. You can also add pages directly in the tree and you can quickly find your pages by using the search box.
Adds a CMS-like tree overview of all your pages and custom posts to WordPress – much like the view often found in a page-focused CMS. Within this tree you can edit pages, view pages, add pages, search pages, and drag and drop pages to rearrange the order.
CMS Tree Page View is a good alternative to plugins such as pageMash, WordPress Page Tree and My Page Order.
